DESCRIPTION: Funtown/Splashtown, New England's largest water and amusement park, is actually two parks at one location. With over 29 rides and water slides, and dozens of other attractions, this park can keep you and your kids occupied for hours, or even days. There are also games, an arcade, an 18-hole miniature golf course, a Grand Prix race track, go karts, bumper cars, a carousel, roller coaster, picnic grounds, and food.
HOURS: In general, Funtown is open weekends in May and daily beginning in early June through Labor Day. Hours vary, so check their web site for details at for hours.

Palace Playland
DESCRIPTION: Palace Playland, which is right on Old Orchard Beach, has a 3-flume water slide, pool, carousel, kiddie rides, a pirate ride, a 70 foot giant ferris wheel, and two roller coasters, in addition to food booths, picnic areas, and New England's largest pinball and video arcade. The Kiddie Land section has rides and games designed especially for kids, including the popular Kiddie Convoy, a mini tractor-trailer truck race. They'll also love the fireworks held every Thursday at 9:45 pm.
HOURS: Open daily from noon to 10:00 pm weekdays and 11:00 am to 10:00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays, in season.
COSTS: Admission and some attractions are free. Rides range from $2.20 to $4.40 each in 2007. You can purchase an unlimited adult day pass for $26.50. A Kiddie Pass is good for unlimited use of all two-ticket rides (there are 12 of them) for $19.50. Season passes are $95.00. For more pricing options, see their web site.

York's Wild Kingdom
DESCRIPTION: York's Wild Kingdom has the added benefit of being Maine's largest zoo, with over 300 animals, including Maine's only white Bengal tiger, in addition to the rides, which include a roller coaster and bumper cars. There's also an arcade, miniature golf, a haunted house, and food.
HOURS: The zoo is open daily Memorial Day through mid-September, and the amusement park is open Saturday's and Sunday's only until late June, then it's open every day through Labor Day. Hours and opening and closing times may vary, so be sure to check ahead.
COSTS: 2007 Zoo admission only is $14.00 for adults and kids over ten, $9.00 for kids age four to ten, and $1.00 for kids three and under. Unlimited rides and zoo admission is $18.25 for adults and kids over ten, $14.25 for kids four to ten, and $4 for kids three and under. Go-Kart and animal rides are sold separately.
