Cumberland, Maine
A beautiful seaside community of Cumberland is the suburb of Portland. It was incorporated as its own town
back in 1821. The town has a rich farming history and every year at the end of September, it hosts one of the state's largest agricultural fairs called Cumberland Fair. Despite its farming history, now the town has only a small number of working farms including Sweetser's Apple Barrel & Orchards, Spring Brook Farms, and Double T Orchards.
Cumberland is known for its excellent education and is served by the Maine School Administrative District (MSAD 51). It is comprised of 4 schools-the Mabel I. Wilson School, North Yarmouth Memorial School, Greely Middle School, and Greely High School. Besides the schools, the town has a convenience store called Food Stop, a few small businesses and an array of restaurants.
A recreational park named Twin Brook, located near the center of the town, offers multiple individual/family recreational activities such as walking, running, hiking, trail walks, ball playing, off-leash dog walking, cross-country skiing, mountain biking and horseback riding.
With all the benefits of a small town lifestyle, Cumberland offers a relaxed rural- town atmosphere.
