 Statistical Area. It is nearly square in form, and the royal River runs right through the town. There are five islands- Cousins Island, Lanes Island, Great and Little Moshier islands, and Littlejohn Island in Yarmouth. The town is home to two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school named Yarmouth High School which was ranked 198th in the thousand best high schools in the US.

Yarmouth is home to warm- involved community. With commercial developments and amenities, the city is mostly residential in character. The town offers an array of activities to keep the children active. They can hang out in Andy's Handy Store and involve themselves in various concerts and kid friendly activities hosted at royal River Park. The park has plenty of space for picnics, walks and playing Frisbee. It is much favored among the locals.

The town of Yarmouth is also famous for Yarmouth Clam Festival. This annual three-day event takes place during the third weekend in July. The festivities include a parade, food, carnival rides, crafts, a clam-shucking contest, a five-mile run, and a world-class bike race and every year thousands of people flock to Yarmouth to see this festival.
