Lake Village and Steep Falls. It is drained by Sebago Lake, Presumpscot River and Saco River and is home to Bonny Eagle High School and Saint Joseph's College of Maine.

Standish is known for its art education. There’s a Schoolhouse Arts Center, a non- profit community art organization, in the old Standish high school. It encourages individual growth and spirit of community through participation in arts.

Once the hunting and fishing territory of the Abenaki tribe, Standish today is a recreational area and the suburb of Portland. The Kiwanis beach located on Route 25 in Standish on Watchic Lake, and Sebago lake (the deepest and second largest lake in the U.S. state of Maine) are popular spot for boat launching, swimming and picnicking.

A day is never sufficient to explore all that Standish has in offer however if you want to do that you need to be extra quick.  You can catch a train in the morning; ride a side-wheel steamboat in Sebago Lake and then return to the city by the evening.
