quintessential New England town. It is home to regional headquarters for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Weather Forecast Office, Libby Hill Forest Trails, and the Spring Meadows Golf Course.

Previously called New Boston, the town was incorporated as Gray on June 19, 1778 after Thomas Gray, a proprietor. Gray is known for the number of historic landmarks and buildings including Pennell Institute. Built back in 1876, the institute is the finest free highschool of its kind in all of New England. It has been renovated currently and aptly renamed as “Henry Pennell Municipal Complex.”

Living in Gray is convenient. The town offers quiet residential flavor for its residents and at the same time it offers an array of recreational, dining, shopping and business opportunities. You can explore the miles of hiking and cross country skiing trails in the picturesque Libby Hill Forest. Or, learn about the wildlife and get some up close wildlife shots at Maine Wildlife Park. If you want to know more about the history and heritage of Gray, do not miss visiting Gray Historical Society and Dry Mills Schoolhouse.

Golf lovers take note. There is a beautifully maintained public golf course named Spring Meadows Golf Course. This 18-hole championship golf course caters to both avid golfer and the beginner. Besides the golf course, Spring Meadows includes a full driving range, practice putting green, bar and lounge area with inside and outside seating, and a first class banquet facility for all your event needs.
With plenty to see and do, Gray is the perfect home base for its residents and visitors.
